Funko struggled with launching a successful loyalty program for years. Attempts were repeatedly made but all quickly fell to the wayside either due to budget constraints or lack of customer engagement. That was until this launch of Fan Rewards in 2023.

This was a complex project to execute since it was closely tied to the launch of Funko’s new website experience and depended on new website functions to be possible. I partnered closely with DTC’s loyalty program manager and Marketing’s lead graphic designer to mindfully curate an experience that was exciting to participate in and easy to navigate.

I drafted and pitched advertising copy, homepage announcements, newsletter assets, social media image and description text, SEO metadata, SMS, mailer card copy, automated email text, customer service replies, and blog content. The result was the first successful launch of a Funko loyalty program. In the first three months alone, over 80,000 users signed up to the free program and led to $9.8 million in total sales as customers jumped on the chance to earn extra points by participating right away. Customers also completed over 1.5 million free activities to earn extra points for their account, and over 68,000 rewards were redeemed.
